Patrick J. Thomas is a Partner in the Firm, focusing his practice on tort and professional liability matters.
Mr. Thomas graduated from Denison University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree, having majored in Biology, with a concentration in Molecular Biology. Thereafter, Mr. Thomas was a research scientist at Case Western Reserve University, focusing his research on human gene enzymes, with a number of articles in such publications as the Ohio Journal of Science, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, the Journal of Investigative Medicine, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Mr. Thomas obtained his Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2001. Upon completing law school, Mr. Thomas gained experience as a patent attorney, handling patent prosecution matters, including applications, amendments, and briefs before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and as a civil litigator, handling election, insurance, medical malpractice, business, and real estate litigation. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Thomas served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Major Trial Unit of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. As a Prosecutor, Mr. Thomas tried more than 80 cases and handled more than 20 appeals.
Mr. Thomas is admitted to practice before the Courts of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Thomas is a Member of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Committee and is a Mock Trial Instructor and Coach for Mayfield High School.
